As part of the Skill Enhancement Programs of the department, a session on ‘Decision Making Using The 6 Thinking Hats’ was conducted by Mr. Joseph Premal Austin on 2nd September 2019. Mr. Joseph, a marketing and PR professional, has more than 14 years of experience in various demanding leadership roles in Public Relations, Advertising and Image Management domains. The key theme of the session – ‘The Six Thinking Hats’, a model that proposes individuals to work better in teams and take decisions through critical thinking and problem solving using six hats that are representative of different roles a person can play. The speaker kept the session lively by presenting several scenarios of lateral thinking for the students to ponder over, which showcased different ways in which teams can work together to problem solve and bring about a cohesive thinking process. The session ended with a Case Discussion, followed by students sharing their individualistic perspectives on it. Overall, a very interesting and informative session for the management students, who are soon to be a part of the oncoming talent pool, were greatly benefitted from the much interactive session.
