Department of Commerce

Established in 1978, the Department of Commerce has continually  excelled. With a faculty of seven lecturers, comprising four permanent staff  members and three esteemed government guest lectures, the department offers a diverse academic experience. Alongside the traditional bachelor of commerce program, the department has also introduced a Master of Commerce and Management course, designed to meet the evolving demands of the  contemporary business landscape. This newly introduced program holds particular significance, as it equips students with advanced managerial skills, strategic thinking abilities, and a nuanced understanding of global business practices.

Students in the Commerce Department show equal dedication and skill across different professional exams like ACCA, CMA, Indian CA and Indian CMA. They work hard and do well in these exams, proving they’re ready for various careers in commerce and management. This shows how our department is focused on giving students a well-rounded education to succeed in different fields of business, both in India and abroad.

We also encourage students to organize events such as National Seminars, Inter-college, and inter-department meets, participate in events organized by other colleges, and also participate in activities of social relevance. This enables them to think creatively and develop the right mindset to meet the challenges of the globalized business environment, through value-based education, interpersonal relations, and outreach programs. With all these inputs one finds our students hardworking, practical-oriented and effective in any work environment. A distinguished faculty teaches the curriculum by combining academic excellence and real-world experience with dedication and commitment.

The Department of Commerce is one of the prestigious departments of the College. Ever since its inception, the Department of Commerce has recorded a consistent improvement in its academic, research, and placement performance. Commerce Department was graced by the presence of well-qualified and experienced faculty members in the yester years and even now is secured in the hands of faculty members who have academic excellence and experience in the industry as well.

The increasing number of applicants year by year for the B.com Programme is a testimony to the efficiency of the Department. The quality of the students is very high and thus helps them to pursue higher learning in reputed institutions. We believe that our students have been well accepted in their job profiles and have consistently exceeded expectations of the corporate world. We are encouraged to see many industries coming to our department for placement, which reinforces our belief in the effectiveness of our curriculum and its suitability for the dynamic corporate world.

 WHAT COMMERCE OFFERS?

During their tenure of study in the department, the students are encouraged to get hands-on experience in the corporate world through internship projects with reputed organizations. They also undertake industrial projects benefitting local industries or dealing with local problems. These projects enable them to understand the relevance of working in a group and also help them to realize the finer aspects and importance of teamwork.

We believe that the new generation requires more personal touch and caring as they face turbulences in their personal lives. The Commerce department cares for the well-being of the students and helps them to be civilized and responsible citizens. Due importance is given to the Value of education, Personality Development, and career guidance which are required for the holistic development of the students. The faculty members and the invited experts regularly interact with the students in the above areas which helps in the personal grooming of the students.
