Department of Computer Applications: Fostering Innovation and Technological Excellence
The Department of Computer Applications, established in 1995, offers two undergraduate programs, including a BSc. (Hons.) in Computer Applications—a four-year UG program with Computer Applications as the major and Mathematics and Statistics as minor subjects. The curriculum is designed to equip young women with the skills necessary to excel in the IT industry.
We adopt a student-centered teaching approach, integrating seminars, presentations, project work, assignments, and ICT-supported learning. Additionally, we regularly host career-oriented seminars and workshops on emerging hardware and software technologies.
Committed to holistic student development, the department actively engages in outreach programs. As part of this initiative, we conduct ‘Yuvavigyan’, an age-friendly digital literacy program for elderly citizens, in collaboration with Magics NGO and the Kochi Municipal Corporation.

We started our journey in 1995 and since then have been enriching young women to meet the challenges of the industry of Information Technology. The department promotes an approach of student-centered teaching, supported by ICT channelized through seminars, presentations, projects, and assignments. With a vision to provide a stimulating learning environment with a technological orientation across the whole curriculum, which maximizes individual potential and ensures students of varying abilities are well equipped to meet the challenges of Education, Work, and Life. The central focus of our mission is to generate highly skilled and competent IT professionals by providing quality graduate education and training students to effectively apply Education to make their mark in the world.
Standards set by the world today demand competition. It requires us to equip ourselves for the challenges it offers. I congratulate and thank all the staff and students who have made for their untiring efforts to bring out this Department. Also, extend my best wishes and greetings and believe that the department will scale even greater heights in the years to come.
