Masters in English was initiated in 1998 as a regular two-year conventional course. The course is divided into Four Semesters, with five papers in each semester. The papers in the first three semesters constitute the core papers of the programme. The five papers in the final semester constitute the elective components, which are the following:
- Modern Indian Literature in Translation
- Modern European Fiction
- Modern European Drama
- Canadian Literature
- Women and literature
Project work is compulsory for the completion of the course.
