Department of Physics
Sixty-seven years of merit and excellence have rolled by in the history of the Department of Physics, which was established in 1959. Recognized as a Post Graduate Department in 1999, it was further elevated to the status of a Research Centre in 2008. Right from its inception, the department has embraced the motto “Work is Worship”—a guiding principle passed down through generations of faculty and students.
With a strong legacy of nurturing curious minds and promoting critical thinking, the department has consistently contributed to the holistic development of students and the advancement of physical sciences.
Recognized as a Centre for Research by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, in 2008, the department is committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive research culture.
Research scholars receive guidance and mentorship from experienced faculty members and often collaborate with leading national and international research institutes. The department frequently hosts seminars, workshops, and invited lectures to facilitate knowledge exchange and promote a spirit of scientific inquiry.
Through innovative teaching, dedicated research, and strong values, the Department of Physics at St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, remains committed to shaping future physicists and empowering women in science.
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence.” – Albert Einstein
We warmly welcome aspiring physicists and researchers to be part of our journey of learning, discovery, and excellence.
