With an intention to promote tourism in the state of Kerala, Government of Kerala proposed that schools and colleges should form tourism clubs in the respective institutions. There should be a teacher coordinator and a student secretary with 75 members in the club. As per the recommendation, a tourism club was formed in St. Teresa’s college in the year 2002. The club has named as ‘Evergreen Tourism Club’ from the year 2008-09.
In the year 2011 January a project proposal on the tourist destination Vallarpadam submitted by the Evergreen tourism club has been sanctioned by DTPC, Ernakulam and a financial assistance of Rs 1500/- approved for the same. The project got completed and the report was submitted to DTPC. A paper presentation of Vintage Vallarapadam has made in District Tourism Camp held at Piravom.
Every year as part of the world tourism day celebrations the club conduct various competitions like Essay writing, Logo Designing, My Shot, Quiz, Painting and Poster Designing. Apart from the competitions the club organizes Orientation programmes, Field visit to an unknown destination for a day and Seminar sessions by eminent persons from tourism and hospitality industry. Tourism club has helped to cultivate a right attitude towards tourism among the students. Since it is a field with immense job opportunities, students are very enthusiastic and are genuinely interested to participate in the activities of the tourism club.
World Environment Day – 6th June, 2017
Club initiated the students to seed a plant in the college and take care of the plant for a year in the campus; the best sapling will be awarded next year on the same day. This initiative is to inculcate the behaviour of respecting and protecting the nature.
District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) Meeting in Guest house Ernakulam for World Tourism Day on 20th September, 2017
A meeting has been convened by the DTPC Ernakulam in the Government Guest House, Ernakulam @10.30 am on 20th September 2017 to discuss how to celebrate the World Tourism Day Celebrations 2017. Shri P.G. Shivan, Joint Director, Dept. of Tourism, Ekm and Shri Vijayakumar DTPC Secretary addressed the gathering. Representatives from Travel Professional Club, Home Stay Association, Tourism Clubs of different colleges and schools attended the meeting. Teacher Co-rdinators of the Evergreen Tourism Club of St.Teresa’s College attended the same. As per the discussion the various activities like Tourist spot cleaning, Cycle Rally, Painting Competition can be organized on the day. This year the world tourism day theme is “Sustainable Tourism- a Tool for Development”.
World Tourism Day Celebrations 27th September, 2017
Based on the meeting the Evergreen Tourism Club of St. Teresa’s College has arranged several activities on World Tourism Day 27th September, 2017
On the same day the club conducted an Eco Walk holding tourism banner from the college to boat jetty.

DTPC has arranged one hour boat ride through the backwaters of Kochi in a luxury boat.
