On August 18th, 2023, the Department of Psychology at St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous) in Ernakulam organized a workshop focusing on the “Review of Literature in Research.” The workshop featured Research Scholars – Ms. Amruthambika P and Ms. Sumi J, from S.D College, Alappuzha, as resource persons.

This workshop was hosted for the final-year postgraduate and undergraduate students as well as faculty members from the Psychology department. The session commenced with a concise introduction to key topics such as variables, types of data, and scales of measurement. The speakers provided valuable insights into selecting a research topic and conducting a systematic literature review. A significant highlight of the workshop was the exploration of Mendeley, a powerful reference management and academic social networking tool designed to assist researchers in organizing their research efforts and facilitating their ongoing projects. Furthermore, the workshop introduced various software options that aid researchers in checking grammar, spelling, usage, wordiness, style, punctuation, tone, and even plagiarism. The participants gained proficiency in using Mendeley software to effectively organize, annotate, and highlight PDFs, add citations, categorize them into collections for different research projects, and seamlessly generate bibliographies using Microsoft Word.

The workshop was effective in helping students identify a research topic, conduct a literature review, and write references using various tools available. The session was well received by both faculty and students.
