A workshop on practical application of Book-keeping and Accounting concepts in Microsoft Excel was conducted for the first year students of BMS – IB program. The session was taken by Mr. V S Binu, where his discourse helped the students gain a hands-on experience and deep understanding of book-keeping concepts learnt in their classroom lectures. The practical application and the software’s wide usage was explained in detail for the management students. As part of the program that specialises in International Business, Mr. Binu, also introduced the much acclaimed American Certificate Program of CFP – Certified Financial Planner. A designation, conferred by the CFP Board in the US and around 25 institutions associated/affiliated with Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) across the globe, is a prestigious certification that management student hoping to specialize in the field of Accounting and Financial Consulting. The students were made aware of the opportunities of such a Certification, its value in career progression, educational requirements, exam process and procedures, etc. The informative, interactive and intense workshop was much appreciated by the first year students and teaching faculty alike.
