The Department of Psychology at St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous) in Ernakulam organized a seminar as part of the Odyssey Series on August 21st, 2023  centered around the theme of “Social Entrepreneurship for Social Transformation.” The resource person for the session was Mr. Arul Jacob, Founder & CEO of Jacmed Healthcare Services Private Limited, Founder & CEO of Sreddha, Kottayam, Kerala.

Arul Jacob shared his own journey, and particularly how he initiated the Sreddha Home Healthcare Service. Throughout the session, he emphasized three critical elements: honesty, vision, and a strong passion for becoming a successful social entrepreneur. The discussion underscored the dual objectives of social entrepreneurship, which encompass both profit and making a significant social impact. Furthermore, the session placed a strong emphasis on the pivotal role that social entrepreneurs play in driving positive societal change.

The primary objective of this program was to equip and empower young individuals with a deep understanding of the concept of social enterprise. It aimed to provide them with actionable insights to make informed decisions regarding their social impact skills and knowledge. Additionally, the seminar aimed to kindle their interest and nurture their ability to creatively apply their acquired learning achievements.

As an outcome of this engaging seminar, participants gained insights into key considerations when venturing into social entrepreneurship.
