On 21st August 2018, the Child Development students of Home Science department of St.Teresa’scollege,Ernakulum, along with Dr.Thara Sebastian(Asst Professor, Home Science dept,St Teresa’s college) went to St.MariaGoretti Public School  ,Nettoor  , which was a flood relief camp for people of Varapuzha ,Muttinakampanchayath and Puthenpally affected by the unprecedented floods.The aim was to soothe the children of the camp, by engaging them in different activities. Several activities were conducted

First was a game “passing the ball ‘which made the children energetic and active. Later the children were made to sit in groups and were provided with paper and coloring materials .Children were asked to draw pictures on  any subject as per their  wish/to make greeting cards. While they were on the job ,songs were  sung by the students. Children contributed  creative and different drawings. While drawing, they were provided with refreshments. All the drawings were collected . Next was the dance session.The children quickly grasped the steps taught to them to the tune of songs which were played. Rhymes were also taught. The children were also made to sing songs. The programme ended with a group dance continued by vote of thanks by Sr. Bincy. Dr.Thara Sebastian spoke to the children and consoled them with good words. Pencil, crayons, chocolates etc were handed over to Sr.Bincy for  giving it to the children. All had their lunch in the Camp. Programme was  concluded with display of the drawingsmade by the children.It was a memorable event both for the children and for the organisers.
