The Department of Zoology observed ‘Ozone Day- 2016‘ on 22nd September 2016, in connection with the ‘International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer – 2016 Celebrations’, supported by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) on the focal theme ‘Ozone and Climate: Restored by a World United’. Intercollegiate competitions and seminars were conducted as a part of the celebrations. A total of 203 students (UG and PG) participated in the celebration.

The welcome address was proposed by Dr. Reema Kuriakose, HOD and the function was inaugurated by handing over a sapling a PG student by Dr. A A Mohamed Hatha. to This was followed by a scientific talk by Dr. A A Mohamed Hatha on ‘Ozone Depletion: Impacts and Remedies’. He discussed on various topics related to ozone depletion and reclamation .

Painting and elocution competitions were also conducted as a part of the celebrations. The winners were awarded cash prizes during the valedictory function. Rev. Dr. Sr. Vinitha (CSST) , Director and Dr. Sajimol Augustine M, Principal, St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam were the invited guests. The programme concluded by a vote of thanks proposed by Dr.Helvin Vincent, Convener of the programme.
