Day 1: A five-day industry immersion program was organized by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics from 15th to 19th of January 2024 at NeST Electronics city, Kalamassery. The first day of the program commenced with an introductory session on an overview of NeST and NeST Digital academy led by Dr. Pradeep S, Asst. Vice president NDA. An informative talk on the applications of data in Geometric Information Systems (GIS) was conducted by Mehraj S, Delivery Manager, GIS. Various topics on critical thinking and problem solving, human centred approach to data analysis, design thinking and innovation etc were covered by Dr. Pradeep S which helped the students to summarize an overview of data analysis by integrating a design thinking and innovation approach for effective solutions. In conclusion, the first day of the program provided valuable insights into real world applications of theoretical concepts enhancing their preparedness for professional challenges in the field. Refreshments were also provided.

Day 2: The second day at the NeST Industry Immersion Program unfolded as an intellectually stimulating experience, thanks to the insightful sessions conducted by our dedicated instructors. Mr. Abhijit meticulously navigated through the landscape of Machine Learning (ML), providing a comprehensive understanding of its various types, associated tools, and the critical role played by Quality Control in ML applications. The exploration extended to ML language platforms, including Tensorflow, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, Keras, and Theano, shedding light on their practical implementations in contexts such as Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement Learning. Following this, Mr. Balamaruli highlighted the pivotal role of measurement in the analytical domain, emphasizing the intricate relationship between measurement, control, and improvement. His presentation delved into a detailed overview of seven essential quality control tools, encompassing Pareto Diagrams, Ishikawa Diagrams, and Histograms. Lastly, Mr. Saji contributed valuable insights into fundamental data analytics concepts, concluding with a practical demonstration of PowerBI usage. Collectively, these sessions provided a nuanced and practical understanding of the converging domains of machine learning, quality control methodologies, and data analytics.

Day 3: The third day of the Nest Industry Immersion Program on Business Analytics offered a rich tapestry of insights into key HR metrics and analytics. Dileep Choypally, VP & Head of HR, kicked off the day with a comprehensive exploration of critical HR metrics, setting the stage for a day of profound learning. Anoop Kumar Jai, Senior Management Recruitment, then provided valuable perspectives on workforce planning and talent acquisition analytics, emphasizing the strategic role of data in recruitment processes. Dr. Pradeep S, AVP – NDA, led a post-lunch session on employee training and development analytics, delving into the nuanced impact of data-driven decisions on learning initiatives. The day continued with Rubiya. N, Operations Lead- NDA, who shared practical insights and real-world applications, adding depth to the discourse. Wrapping up the day, William Cutinho, Manager, HRBP, illuminated talent retention and compensation management analytics, offering participants a holistic understanding of leveraging data for employee satisfaction. The interactive sessions facilitated engaging discussions, equipping participants with practical knowledge for data-driven decision-making in the dynamic realm of human resource management.

Day 4: The fourth day of the Nest Industry Immersion Program on Business Analytics offered a rich tapestry of insights into finance analytics. Vilas, CA, external trainer, kicked off the day with a comprehensive exploration of critical financial management, setting the stage for a day of profound learning. The session conducted by Vilas C.A was an insightful exploration of important financial statements, ratio analysis, and the creation of dynamic financial models. Vilas C.A engaged the participants by providing practical case studies, making the session both informative and interesting.During the session, Vilas C.A emphasized the significance of financial statements in understanding a company’s financial health. He highlighted key statements such as the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement, and explained how they provide valuable insights into a company’s performance, liquidity, and profitability. Ratio analysis was another crucial topic discussed by Vilas C.A. He demonstrated how ratios can be used to assess a company’s financial stability, efficiency, and profitability. Participants learned how to calculate and interpret Beneish Model, Analysis of Revenue and Expense Manipulation, Altmans’s Z score and Benfold’s Law. The session also delved into the creation of dynamic financial models. Vilas C.A showcased various tools and techniques that can be employed to build comprehensive financial models, enabling businesses to make informed decisions and forecast future outcomes. By incorporating practical case studies, Vilas C.A ensured that participants could apply their newfound knowledge to real-world scenarios. This hands-on approach enhanced the learning experience and fostered a deeper understanding of the concepts discussed. Overall, Vilas C.A’s session on important financial statements, ratio analysis, and creating dynamic financial models was engaging and informative. Day 5: The final day of the NeST Digital Industry Immersion Induction Program marked the culmination of an enriching and intensive 5-day journey for the participating groups. The day commenced with two insightful sessions, followed by the final declaration of the winning group and concluded with a feedback session and closing ceremony.

Session 1: The morning kicked off with a comprehensive session led by Deepak Suresh on Market Basket Analysis and Customer Segmentation. Participants were immersed in the intricacies of understanding consumer behavior through data analysis, with Deepak’s expertise shedding light on innovative strategies for effective market segmentation.

Session 2: The second session delved into the realm of mathematical modeling, offering participants a deep dive into the analytical aspects of data interpretation. The session facilitated a broader understanding of mathematical tools and models crucial for making informed business decisions in the digital industry.
