The French Department held its French Fest, or “La Fête Francophone”, 2023-2024 edition, on the 7th of November.

The festival was organized by our 3rd UG students, helped by the PG students and the 1st & 2nd UG students. They put together all their creativity and their efforts to offer the experience of a lifetime to all our guests!

Many students of French came from schools and colleges across Kerala to share their love for the French language and to participate in the various competitions offered by the département de français.

Kind words were shared by Vice-Principal Dr. Kala M S and the head and heart of the French departement, Madame Sabeena Bhaskar, to introduce the event.

To welcome our guests, the festival started with a ceremony hosted by Azna and Shireen, III UG. The show invited to a fusion of two cultures through dance and a fashion show held by the students of the French Department. India and France met on stage to express the colors of both cultures and the importance of diversity.

After this welcoming introduction, all the guests were requested to attempt to the different competitions : spell bee, quiz, essay writing, group song, fashion show, group dance, salad making, … And the great finale : Miss and Mister Francophonie! The whole department and building were swarming of enthusiastic students of different ages, eager to show their many talents.

To feed all this Francophone crowd, the students of the French department held a stand proposing delicious French food: croissants, pains au chocolat, quiches végétariennes et non-végétariennes, vol-au-vent, mousses au chocolat ou à la fraise, éclairs, choux et gâteaux faits maison. It was a big success!

The most awaited results were welcomed with great joy. Certificates, medals and trophies were dancing on the stage as our dear guests and competitors collected their prize, congratulated by the audience.

All the students enjoyed their day and everybody will remember this moment. Our department was more than happy to welcome all and everyone and hope to do even better next year.

Alors, à l’année prochaine !
