The introduction of Goods and Services Tax Act by replacing Value Added Tax created many doubts in the minds of the consumers. So as a part of Consumer Club activity the Department of Commerce undertook the responsibility to arrange a session to clear the doubts on GST and to make the concepts clearer to the faculty, students and the consumers in general. A Faculty Enrichment Programme was conducted by the Department of Commerce for the faculty of various colleges in Kerala, 11th December 2017 in the Arts Block Auditorium. The session was led by C A Soman N. L, Chartered Accountant.

Sri.CA. Soman N L, M.Com; FCA is the Convenor of the  Study Group for  “Goods and Services Tax”  in the state of  Kerala, constituted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), New Delhi. He is a Faculty of the ICAI on GST. He has More than 20 years of experience in Indirect Tax matters, such as Central Excise, Customs, Import/Export, Service Tax, SEZ, Foreign Trade Policy provisions, etc. He serves as the Speaker in Study Circle / CPE meetings of the ICAI branches and other Professional Bodies and Associations. He also acts as the faculty for the training programme   for the Excise Commissionerate Officers. Currently he is working with M/s. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Kochi Refinery as Chief Manager (Projects).
