In 2010, the Department was elevated by the Mahatma Gandhi University as a Research Centre. The Centre is equipped with a computer lab to help data analysis, project design and presentations. The faculty consists of 8 members with 5 PhD and 3 MPhil Degree holders while another two are currently pursuing their doctoral research programme .The department has considerable student strength and has produced good results and several ranks at the university level.
