The Department of Psychology, St Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam in collaboration with the Bodhi project of CUSAT, Centre for Neuroscience, District Administration, and theDepartment of Social Justice organized a Dementia Awareness program on 29th June 2022, Wednesday at 1.30 PM in the Seminar Hall, Arts block.

Bodhi — a project to make Ernakulam dementia-friendly, conducts awareness programs on Dementia at all local bodies, schools, colleges, residents associations and for Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, auto-taxi drivers, and other sectors.

The resource persons of the program were Ms. Anila Jain, Social Worker and Community Mobilizer of Bodhi, and Ms. Biby Dominic Aykara, Psychologist and Master Trainer of Bodhi. She talked about the importance of cultivating a healthy lifestyle in preventing Dementia. The session helped the participants gain an insight into the disturbing statistics related to dementia, the types of dementia, its causes, and possible preventive methods.

Around 50 faculty members from different departments of the college participated in the seminar. The participants were attentive and interacted well with the resource person. The program was highly informative and well received by the audience. Dr Alphonsa Vijaya, Vice-Principal presided over this awareness drive.
