The Department of French organised a quiz on France and Tourism on 20th Nov 2020. The quiz was hosted by the vibrant French language connoisseur Col. Vembu Shankar: an Indian Army veteran who is the founder of the Project Sambandh (www.projectsambandh.com). Heartfelt thanks to Colonel Shankar for conducting such an applause-worthy quiz!

Indeed, out of the 100 participants (the maximum limit set by Zoom), 96 took part in the quiz. UG and PG students as well as teachers enthusiastically took part in the same and helped turn the event into a huge success!

The theme for the quiz was famous monuments; “Show me the Money” was the moniker for the clue option as the options were all listed on commonly-used currency notes. There were questions regarding the Symbols of France, like Marianne-who represents the French Republic and the iconic French wine-Champagne. Then there were “Pot-pourri” questions which were based around cultural knowledge, such as questions around the beautiful dance form-Mohiniattam.

All the participants, together with Col. Shankar, shared many laughs and had a fun time, with the Colonel interacting with the participants, sharing his views on how closely culture and languages are intertwined.

And here, we have the 4 winners!!!

The ‘Winner of Winners’ is Ms. Shivani Sagar, 2nd BA FRENCH.
