The Department of Zoology conducted a virtual inauguration of Zoology association of the academic year 2020-21 on 29th October 2020 in Google meet platform. The event was graced by Dr Nandini Menon , Nansen Environmental Research Centre India (NERCI), Kochi. The programme commenced with a soulful prayer rendered by  Vismaya of III DC Zoology which was followed by a welcome note by Dr Meera Jan Abraham , HOD,  Department of Zoology. Dr Nandini Menon gave us a talk about the role of biologists who are the torch bearers of the society and how their contributions help to develop a sustainable environment. She also gave a brief note about citizen science and environmental monitoring, the revival of Vembanad Lake programme and the operation of mini Secchi disc and about a mobile app as a part of revival project.

The Department of Zoology hosted a colourful first ever virtual fresher’s day for Ist UG and PG students. The program was titled  as  “TRICK OR TREAT- 2020”. Many online and offline games were conducted. The  main event was Ms Fresher competition. Sheka Fatima of  I UG  bagged ‘Miss Fresher title’ of the academic year 2020-21.  Jinan and Teja won the first and second runner-up respectively.

Despite the covid-19 pandemic situation,  our students celebrated Fresher’s day in an innovative and fun-filled manner.
