WRITING FOR NEW MEDIA AND INTERACTIVITY IN MEDIA

On 27th September 2017, the department of management studies conducted a seminar on Writing for New Media and Interactivity in Media. The topic was a part of  the last module in creative communication .  With intention to make the students understand the practical aspects of interactive writing, the seminar was conducted by the department .Resource Person for the session was Father Robin Xavier, HOD, Media Studies, De Paul Institute of Science and Technology, Angamaly. The speaker was not only a professor but also had industry experience by being a part of Mathrubhumi group and various other media agencies before teaching.

Though the session was only for 2 hours, but it was worth of it and was a good experience. The seminar started by giving a brief introduction about how to create an interactive content for media and highlighting the need of it. Different types of interactive media was also discussed and the students got to know the how media is benefited from interactive writing. The lecturer also discussed on how an interactive fiction is created and highlighted on the key points on how interactive media is different from linear media. The session was finally concluded through discussion on structures of interactive media and giving some real examples of interactivity from French revolution and travel guide to Caribbean.
