World Mental Health Day, established by the World Federation of Mental Health, is celebrated on 10th October every year to dispel the stigma associated with mental health issues and educate the public about mental health.

World Mental Health Day 2023 was an opportunity for people and communities to unite behind the theme ‘Mental health is a universal human right’ to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right as outlined by the WHO. The Department of English joined the World Mental Health Day 2023 campaign with a poetry writing activity on the theme ‘Mental Health.’ The poems written were shared on the official Instagram page of the English Association along with posts about tips to improve mental health and literature that represent mental health.
