On June 5th 2023, the Department of English and Centre for Research organised hands-on activities to commemorate World Environment Day to foster a sense of environmental responsibility among students with the aim to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote sustainable practices. The activities took place in the III UG classroom after class hours.

The students discussed and formulated feasible green protocol guidelines for the department. Students participated in exploring ways to reduce plastic usage and made suggestions to enhance sustainability.

The discussion was followed by a craft session to repurpose discarded items to reduce waste. The crafts included paper bags from old newspapers, bookmarks from paperback covers of old books, pots and pen holders from coconut shells and coir threads. The art and craft activity served as a practical example of how individuals can contribute to sustainable practices in their daily lives.
