The Department of Economics in collaboration with Sakhi Women’s Resource Centre, Trivandrum has organised a one day Workshop on ‘Gender Planning and Budgeting in Local Bodies’ on 12th July 2019 at Arts Auditorium. There were a total of 80 selected student participants for the workshop. Dr. Thushara George, HOD Economics gave the welcome address. The first Technical session was by Dr. Neena Joseph who touched upon the areas of gender sensitisation, Status of women, need for gender status study. The afternoon session byMr. PK Raveendran , dealt with Panchayati Raj System and the structures and processes of women empowerment, process of planning and budgeting Ina gramapanchayat and significance of data planning. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Anju George, Asst Professor, Dept of Economics.
