On the 23.02.24, the department of French conducted a session with the organization Soroptimist International Kochi, on Women Empowerment and Gender Equality at the Audio Visual Room of St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulum. We had Ms. Rama Krishna, President of Soroptimist International Kochi, Ms. Leena Balasubramaniam, Secretary of Soroptimist with us. The speaker for the session was Adv. Anchala who is also a member of the organization. The session commenced at 12.00 PM and ended at 1.30 PM.

Adv. Anchala is a renowned in her field of expertise. She did her LLB at National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi. And pursued her graduation in New York University School of Law and Princeton University respectfully. She was felicitated by the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of Kerala Justice Manikumar J for making the final shortlist for the Outstanding Lady Lawyer Award 2022 instituted by the Retd Justice P V Asha and the Kerala Federation of Women Lawyers (KFWL). More recently, she is the recipient of the G. Kamala Devi Memorial Award for the Best Young Lawyer 2023 instituted by the Kerala High Court Advocates Association (KHCAA) and felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Kerala, Justice A J Desai at the High Court Annual Day.

The session was very short and crisp. The speaker conveyed the topic in a very informative manner along with a great articulation of words. It was short and interactive. She covered about the important articles in the Indian Constitution provisioned especially women. The students gained lots of knowledge and profited from the session. The session was very much knowledgeable and essential for the students.
