On January 21, 2022, the department of management studies hosted the DMS National Seminar. The topic for this seminar was Women Redefining Paradigms. This national seminar is a tribute to the indomitable spirit of our foundress Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima, who dared to go beyond the conventions of her time and create a world of equality for women. The session began with a prayer by the DMS Choir followed by the welcome address from the Head of Department, Ms. Megha Mary Michael.

With a brief introduction, we welcomed our first speaker, Ms. Lekha Balachandran, Managing partner at Resitech Electricals. She motivated and encouraged the younger generation to expand their interests and discover their capabilities. She mentioned that the current generation is so much more than what people give them credit for. Furthermore, she focused on topics like stress, self-motivation, leadership, etc using examples from her personal life on her journey to becoming an entrepreneur. Her empowering talk was then followed by an Interactive session.

The first session, Soaring above the clouds, commenced with the introduction of our next guest, Captain Bindu Sebastian, the ex-wing commander of the Indian Air Force. She began with her journey on how she became a pilot in the Indian Air force. The advantages and disadvantages, the blessings and the curses of being a woman. And so much more. She gave us a glimpse of her life using pictures from her time in the air force. Now, she’s proud to have more women representing India. With this, an interactive session followed where the students were eager to ask questions left and right. Encouraging a very communicative environment.

Due to personal commitments, our second session, The Journey to Gold, hosted by Ms. Libas Sadhique, Powerlifting champion, Teacher, and Motivator, could not be held but she graced us with her presence for the seminar.

With the vote of thanks, we concluded the DMS national seminar 2022
