Department of Chemistry and Centre for Research of St.Teresa’s college (Autonomous) has organised the “WOMEN ACHIEVERS IN SCIENCE – SERIES 5” a programme inorder to honour women with great achievements. The programme aimed to motivate the students towards the field of science and to undertake research as their career. As fifth among the series, the department invited Dr. Tessy Thomas, Form Director General of Aeronautical Systems, DRDO. It was organised on 17th August, 2023 at the seminar hall, Arts block. Her remarkable journey as the former director general at DRDO and her title “ the Missile Woman of India” was an inspiration to us all.

The programme commenced with a silent prayer. Dr. Saritha Chandran A., Head of the department welcomed the gathering. Rev. Dr. Sr.Vinitha CSST, Provincial Superior and Manager delivered the presidential address and later honoured Dr. Dr. Tessy Thomas with a ponnada. Dr. Tessy Thomas  was also presented with a momento as a token of gratitude by our  Principal, Dr. Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph. Dr. Sajimol Augustine, the Senior Administrator of our college felicitated the gathering.Namratha Shantakumar, III B.Sc Chemistry gave an introduction of the guest. Dr. Tessy Thomas had led a motivational session thereafter. She shared various hurdles that she had to face in her life, and showed that only through patience, perseverance and self-analysis, one can achieve true
success in life. The session was followed by an interactive session where the students raised many interesting questions. The program helped the students and faculties to explore the new opportunities in the field of research happening around the world. Finally the programme coordinator Dr. Annu Raju, rendered the vote of thanks for the gathering.
