The International Women’s Day Workshop, titled “How to be Secure in Digital Space?”, was conducted on March 8 at 8 PM via Google Meet in celebration of International Women’s Day. Organized by Cyber Security and Applied Computing in association with TechByHeart and other institutional partners, the event aimed to raise awareness about cybersecurity and equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary to stay secure in the digital world. The event featured distinguished speakers, including Shilpa D IPS, who provided insights into cybersecurity threats, online safety measures, and legal protections available for women in digital spaces; Ardra Benny, who discussed practical steps to ensure online safety and privacy; and Dr. Nihala Hari, who shared knowledge on digital literacy and how women can navigate the internet safely and responsibly. The workshop began with an inaugural session emphasizing the importance of digital security for women, followed by informative discussions and interactive sessions. Shilpa D IPS presented real-life case studies of cyber threats and explained protective measures, while Ardra Benny conducted a session on best practices for secure online behavior, including password management, phishing awareness, and social media privacy settings. Dr. Nihala Hari highlighted the psychological and social aspects of digital security, guiding women on safeguarding their personal and professional online presence. A Q&A session allowed attendees to engage with the speakers and clarify their doubts regarding cybersecurity. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and organizers. The workshop was a resounding success, providing valuable insights into cybersecurity and empowering women with essential digital safety skills. Attendees gained practical knowledge on how to protect their personal and professional digital identities, making the workshop a significant step toward creating a safer online environment for women. The event was supported by multiple organizations, including BCM College Kottayam, LBS Institute of Technology for women, and KMCT College of Engineering for Women, among others, who played a crucial role in making the event a success.
