The Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), organized a webinar on the topic ‘Forensic Psychology’ on 17th December 2022, through Google Meet.
The resource person of the webinar was Dr. Ajayan Pillai a practicing Clinical Psychologist and also the Deputy Director, Director of Quality Management at Manhattan Psychiatric Centre, New York, USA. Dr. Ajayan has also worked with Kingsboro Psychiatric Center, Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, and Rikers Island Correctional facility.
Dr. Ajayan shared his experience in the field of forensic psychology. He spoke about the different areas in which forensic psychologists work and the scope of the field in the US. Dr. Ajayan Pillai also enlightened a few cases that he worked with which sparked the interest of many students. The resource person spoke about the challenges faced as a forensic psychologist, the job opportunities in India and US and courses available to pursue PG in Forensic Psychology both abroad and in India. The webinar was attended by both UG and PG students of the Psychology department along with faculty members.
The program helped create awareness among the participants on the scope of forensic psychology and the relevant job opportunities in the field.
