On the 24th of February 2024, at 9:30 am, the Department of Chemistry and Centre for Research, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, organized a program titled “Walk with the Scientist” in the Audio-Visual Room of the Science Block. The esteemed speaker for this event was Prof. Joshy Joseph from CSIR-National Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Trivandrum.

This unique initiative, “Walk with the Scientist,” was designed to provide both undergraduate and postgraduate students with the rare opportunity to engage with a distinguished scientist. The program aimed to inspire and enlighten students about the dynamic world of scientific research, encouraging exploration of various fields and potential career paths. The event was attended by final year undergraduate students and all postgraduate students, counting about 72 in number.

During the talk, Prof. Joshy Joseph emphasized the importance of viewing science from different angles, encouraging students to delve into undefined aspects to appreciate the beauty of science. He connected scientific temper with real-life experiences, such as preparing a dish or embarking on a journey. The speaker’s brilliant delivery captivated the students, who actively participated in the session by posing questions and raising doubts.

Prof. Joseph’s engaging approach fostered a dialogue, with students eager to inquire about pathways to join research institutions and other related topics. The session, in all its aspects, proved to be fruitful. The program concluded at 12 pm, after which interested students had a closer interaction with the scientist, seeking insights into research, higher studies, and other potential avenues.
