The Tourism club organized a one day trip for the tourism club students of St. Teresa’s college to Aranmula, a heritage village in Pathanamthitta district in Kerala. We find here a traditional community which preserves, protects and showcases the culture, lifestyle, and history of the region. Aranmula is world famous for its “chef d’oeuvre” which is popularly known as ARANMULA KANNADI , the most precious handcrafted metal mirror. This small village has many feature elements like historical architecture, local crafts and many traditional arts.
The next place to visit was the Vasthuvidya Gurukulam in Aranmula, that has for a goal to promote, preserve and teach Vastushastra, the traditional architecture of our region as well as other traditional artistic works like Mural Painting etc.
The students had a wonderful experience with the invaluable pieces of information on our culture and heritage. Aranmula provides an immersive experience for visitors and preserve intangible heritage which serve as a way to maintain cultural identity, support local artisans, and educate future generations.
