The Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, along with JENIKA Foundation and K. Chittilappilly Foundation conducted a one-day summer camp  “ഉയരെ” for single women and children on 16 May 2023 in the department. The program was inaugurated by Dr. George Sleeba, Executive Director of the K. Chittilappilly Foundation. The Chief Guest for the program was Ms. Thaheera Beevi, Women Protection Officer, Ernakulam. Other attendees included Ms. Deepa from the Women and Child Development Department, Ernakulam, and Dr. Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph, Principal of St. Teresa’s College.

JENIKA Foundation along with K. Chittilappilly Foundation distributed financial aid to women in need as well as school kits including school bags, boxes, notebooks, and water bottles to all the children who participated in the event. Around 60 participants were present for the program.

An awareness class was conducted by Mr. Deepak. G, Manager, Chittilappilly Foundation for single mothers and children. Jenika’s theme song ” Spread The Light” and its documentary “AMY- The shattered silence ” was also screened.

Mentoring and counseling were given to students by Jenika’s social workers and the department team.  In the afternoon, an outing was arranged for the single mothers and children. The program concluded by 5 pm.
