On 4 June 2024, St. Teresa College organized a UNEP Sensitization and Nudging Program for student representatives and teachers. This event was followed by the comprehensive seminars conducted on 5 June 2024 across all departments, as part of the World Environment Day, aligning with the initiatives of the Bhoomithra Sena Club, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The theme for World Environment Day 2024 was “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” with the slogan “Our Land, Our Future.”

The seminars addressed crucial topics such as enhancing food production through restoration, evaluating water cycles and sources, and reintegrating nature into urban landscapes. Participants learned about sustainable agriculture practices, soil conservation, and the importance of pollinators, with a focus on the restoration of freshwater ecosystems and the revitalization of marine and coastal areas. Attendees were encouraged to explore local water bodies, participate in river restoration efforts, and join the World Water Quality Alliance and the Community Action for Freshwater Initiative. The program underscored the significance of reducing plastic waste, safeguarding mangrove habitats, and advocating for sustainable seafood consumption. Furthermore, it motivated them to promote green urban spaces, establish micro-forests, and volunteer for ecosystem rehabilitation projects, thus contributing to a more resilient and sustainable environment.
