TROP activities of the Department were organized at St. Mary’s U. P. School, Maradu. Groups of students from different classes visited the school for various activities

On 30-6-2016 a group of students from the 3rd B. Sc. Botany visited the school and gave the school students awareness regarding the plastic menace. They introduced the concept of ‘Best of Waste’ and showed them how to beneficially make use of waste materials like discarded plastic bottles. The target group was also trained in making dolls using sponge.  The volunteers from 3rd DC Botany trained the students several yoga postures and also showed them how to benefit from breathing exercises on 21-7-2016. On 14-8-2016 the volunteers from 3rd B.Sc Botany trained the students how to make paper bags that can be used as well as marketed. The students were introduced to the art of Origami and were happy to learn to make butterflies, and other paper crafts. A class and demonstration on the Nutritional importance of pulses were arranged for the school students on 12-09-2016. The classes were handled by the M.Sc. Botany students. Glass painting and fabric painting classes were organized on 15-10-2016 and Bouquet making on 18-10-2016. As a part of the Christmas celebration, a few students of the Dept. along with NSS volunteers visited St. Joseph’s Old Age Home, Chullickal, Fort Kochi on 23-12-2016 and handed over a bundle of love comprising of essential commodities for the inmates.
