As a part of the Student Enrichment series, the Department of English and Centre for Research hosted a talk by Mr. Archit Ameya, author, director and scriptwriter, about the life and legacy of the novelist Milan Kundera. The session began at 2:15 pm in the AV room adjoining the college library.

Mr. Ameya began the talk by speaking about Kundera’s ardent love for literature and the beginnings of his literary career. The speaker reflected on the lack of romanticization of the literary works of Kundera in Prague. The speaker then proceeded to highlight the many traits of Kundera’s works by speaking about his novels, “The Joke” (1967), “Life is Elsewhere” (1973), “The Book of Laughter and Forgetting” (1979), “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” (1984), “Immortality” (1990) and “Identity” (1998). Mr. Ameya focused on the autobiographical, political and philosophical elements seen in the literary works of Kundera. The talk was followed by an interactive session.
