The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year, to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse. Marking the importance of this day, the Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, along with the Now or Never Foundation and Narcotics Control Bureau, Sub zone, Kochi organized a Drug Abuse Awareness Campaign for the general public at Lulu Mall, Edappally on Monday 26th June at 2.00 pm.

The students of the department enthralled the gathered audience with a variety of cultural programs ranging from solo and group song performances to dance dramas, mime, skit, and a theme dance depicting the ill effects of drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Mr. Shaiju Varghese, Sr. Intelligence Officer of NCB Cochin addressed the crowd gathered and highlighted the menace of drug abuse and its ill effects. He encouraged the public to put a step forward in saying no to drugs.  The program ended with a power-packed dance performance by all the students of the Department of Psychology.

The program helped educate and create awareness among the general public about the ill effects of drug abuse and encouraged them to pledge against Drug use and illicit trafficking.
