In collaboration with Aster Medcity, the Department of Psychology, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam organized a talk on ‘Volunteerism’ for Psychology students on July 21st, 2023 from 12.30 pm. to 1.30 p.m.

The talk was led by Shri. T. P. Seetharam, IFS, currently holds the distinguished position of leading Aster Volunteers, in India. He boasts a background as a Former Diplomat (from 1980 to 2016), having held esteemed positions such as Ambassador of India to UAE, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Director General of India-Taipei Association, and Press Secretary to President of India, Shri K. R. Narayanan. Presently, he holds

Shri. T. P. Seetharam initiated his address by delving into UPSC interviews, specifically focusing on the topic of hobbies. Students engaged in discussions about their hobbies with him. He proceeded to explore the concept of volunteerism as a potential hobby, sharing his profound insights on the matter. Drawing from personal experiences, he recounted his journey as a volunteer, offering valuable guidance on how to embrace volunteerism. He passionately encouraged students to extend helping hands to those in need.

The entire session proved to be both captivating and interactive, holding the student’s interest throughout. As the session drew to a close, several students availed the opportunity to scan the QR code provided by Aster Volunteers, thereby enrolling themselves as volunteers of the organization.

Dr. Ushamani, Dean of Student Affairs, St. Teresa’s College, presented a memento to Shri Seetharam Sir at the end of the talk as a token of gratitude from the institution.

The program helped the students to get an awareness of volunteerism. It also extended an opportunity for the students to work as volunteers under the Aster Volunteers, India
