Department of Zoology with the objective to generate awareness and encourage Wildlife organised a talk entitled ‘ Embrace the Wildlife for Sustainable Future’ as part of Lecture series on Biodiversity Conservation on 28th January, 2020. S. Shri. Balasankar, Section Forest officer, Kerala Forest Department and Assistant Editor of journal “Aranyam” delivered a talk.

The session started with an introduction by Sandra George, the PG representative followed by a prayer by Jazima CA and Amitha Maria Antony from  first year PG. The welcome speech was given by Achu Oommen of second year PG. The lecture section was inaugurated with the official release of the book entitled “Mannira compost Bhoomikkayi” prepared by the UG students of the department as a part of TROP activity. Ms Tiya K J, Assistant professor and the Editor of the book of handed over the first copy of it to Shri. Balasankar, who then proceeded to hand over it to the Head of the Department, Dr. Meera Jan Abraham. The presentation by Shri Balasankar was very interactive with interesting. He shared a lot of information and lesser known facts about the wildlife. He discussed in depth about the diversity of India and the need to embrace the wildlife for sustainable future. The program concluded with the enthusiastic feedback from the students followed  by the vote of thanks by Rhea Eliz Kurian of first year PG.
