YOGA WORKSHOP IN CONNECTION WITH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
The Department of Sociology conducted yoga workshop in connection with World yoga day on 27th June at 1pm. Instructor for the workshop was Ms. Billa Bose Sangeeth. She is the founder of Soham yoga studio Ayush certified Yoga protocol instructor under the Ministry of Ayush. She is running the Soham yoga studio doing online and offline classes for intermediate and beginners.
SESSION ON ANTI-NACOTICS
On June 30th, A session on Anti-Narcotics was organized by the Department of History and the Department of Sociology in collaboration with ‘Avalidam’ and Team Kerela. Sarah Saju from II BA Sociology welcomed the speakers and Smt. Mini Sukumaran proposed the welcome speech and gave the students and faculty of both Departments a gist on the organization.
WORKSHOP IN ASSOCIATION WITH CPPR
A workshop on Public Policy and role of markets was conducted on 7th July 2023 by CPPR (Centre for Public Policy Research) and the Department of Sociology in the seminar Hall. The workshop was indeed an insightful one that helped students to imbibe new knowledge The workshop was attended by 42 students from both Sociology and Economics department.
SOCIOLOGY ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION 2023-24
On 20 July 2023, we conducted the inauguration of the Sociology Association. The association members were elected on 18 July through a cumulative voting method. The program coordinator for the association 2023-24 was Smt. Elizabeth Abraham.
INTERDEPARTMENT QUIZ COMPETITION- INDEPENDENCE DAY
An inter-department Quiz Competition was conducted by the Association in accordance with The Independence Day of India on 18th August, 2023. Students from different departments participated forming 13 teams who were named alphabetically.
ONAM CELEBRATION-THEYTHAKA
On 24th August, 2023, The students of the Sociology department organized an Onam Celebration under the Name “Theythaka. Students from each year of the department were all gathered in the mirror room to celebrate. Dr Lebia Gladis Ma’am started off by. imbibing us on the significance of Onam and welcoming all the students encouraging them to enjoy the Program.
TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION -TANAR
Department Of Sociology conducted Teacher’s Day celebration at mirror room on 5th September. There were several games conducted by the department.
SWEET REPEATS
A thrift sale titled Sweet Repeats was organized by Department of Sociology and Centre for Research in collaboration with NSS Unit 41 and Rotaract Club of Cochin Knights. The students collected rarely used or unused items from students, faculty, alumnae and non-teaching staff of the College.
MS EXCEL WORKSHOP
Microsoft Excel workshop being conducted by Interncan, Department of BCA (Cloud Technology and Information Security Management) in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and Centre for Research.
DEFENCE TRAINING SESSION(KARATE)
Department Of Sociology conducted a powerful and empowering Defence training session in collaboration with kyudokanindia. This session was very much helpful for the students. Our students Christeena Daji and Riya Vinod were part of Kyudokanindia.
SPEECH COMPETITION
On 31st January, 2024, The Department of Sociology and Centre for Research held a speech competition titled Dr. Fr George Koilparambil Prize Best Speaker Competition in the II BA Sociology Classroom. Sarah Saju of II BA Sociology won the Best Speaker Competition with a Prize money of 1000 Rupees.
INTERACTIVE SESSION ON KOREAN CULTURE
On 6th February, 2024, the department of Sociology and center for research had organized an interactive session on Korean Culture in the I BA Sociology Classroom. Ms. Kim Young Jin, PHD Korean Scholar, was the speaker for the day. The students of Sociology Department had gathered in the venue to attend the session.
WORKSHOP ON DOCUMENTARY
On February 19, 2024, A workshop on Documentary Screening was organized by the department of sociology and Center for Research in the Arts auditorium. The students of the sociology department and NSS unit 41 had arrived in the Venue. There was short movie shown in the beginning.
