Adv. Aryasree P from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, conducted a comprehensive seminar on human rights. The session introduced foundational principles, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and explored legal frameworks for protecting human rights internationally. Topics covered included the roles of UN bodies, regional human rights courts, and the implementation of treaties like the ICCPR and ICESCR. Participants examined real-world cases of human rights abuses, such as torture and gender-based violence, and discussed the contributions of organizations like WHO, UNESCO, and ILO. The seminar concluded with a focus on environmental rights. Overall, it significantly deepened students’ understanding of human rights and their historical context.
