The Zoology Association conducted a one day seminar on ‘Biology and Society’ on 9th September, 2015. The programme commenced with the inauguration of the seminar by the Director of St.Teresa’s College, Rev. Dr. Sr. Vineetha and the Principal Dr. Sajimol Augustine. The guest speakers were Dr. Shaju Thomas, Senior Writer Fellow, Kerala State Council For Science, Technology and Environment and gave a talk on “New Biology- What and Why?”. This was followed by a talk on the topic ‘Why Should I Study Biology? A Fishery Scientist Perspective.’ by Dr. Sunil Mohammed, Principal Scientist and Head, Molluscan Fisheries Division, CMFRI .The next session was by Dr. Kaladharan, Principal Scientist, FEMD, CMFRI on the topic ‘Biology as a Hobby’. The final speech was by Dr. Vijayagopal, Principal Scientist and Head, Marine biotechnology Division, CMFRI on the topic ‘Fish and Health’. The programme concluded with an interactive session followed by Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Soja Louis.
