On the 26.06.24, the French department proposed a “séance cinéma” to its students of UG III and UG II.

Cinema is an efficient medium to get more familiar with the French language as well as with the French culture. It also allows students to discover how French people do cinema. For this first séance, we proposed “J’ai perdu mon corps”, an animated movie by Jérémy Clapin from 2019, based on the book “Happy hand” by Guilllaume Laurant.

The storie follow a hand which has lost the rest of its body and a young man who falls in love. The movie talks about the loss of the loved one and how to move on.

The movie won the “Grand prix de la Semaine de la critique” at Festival de Cannes. It won 2 Césars (equivalent of the Oscars in France) for the best animated movie and best music.

The students were happy about the séance and showed a lot of interest for the next. We are expecting to conduct one séance a month, showing movies from France as well as from other Francophone countries.
