‘Inizio’ –Sociology Association Inauguration, 30th September 2021
The Sociology Association for the year 2021- ‘22 was officially inaugurated on the 30th of September 2021.
The chief guest of the day was Dr Sonu Trivedi, who is the Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at the Indian Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
Webinar – ‘Pandemic and the Invisible Environment’, 4th June 2021
In connection with World Environment Day, a webinar was organized on the 4th of June . The topic for the webinar was “Pandemic and the invisible environment”. The resource person for the webinar was Dr Sebastian Joseph from the PG department and Research Centre for History at UC College, Aluva.
‘Lezen’ – Online Quiz Competition, 19th June 2021
An online quiz competition was conducted by the department in accordance with Reading Day on 19th June, named ‘Lezen.’ The quiz was open exclusively for the students of the Sociology department of the college.
‘Human Trafficking: Inclusion of Survivors’, 30th July 2021
In connection with World Day against Trafficking of Persons, a webinar was organized on the 30th of July by the department in association with Cultural Academy for Peace and the Kochi City Police. The topic for the webinar was ‘Human Trafficking: Inclusion of Survivors- Rescue, Prevention and Rehabilitation.’
The resource persons for the webinar included Ms. Beena Sebastian (Founder and Chairperson of Cultural Academy for Peace), Ms. Aishwarya Dongre IPS (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kochi City), Mr. Biji George (District Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police, Special in-charge of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit), Adv. Sandhya Raju (Lawyer at the High Court of Kerala and Founder and Managing Director of Centre for Constitutional Rights, Research and Advocacy).
Alankaar’ – Fancy Dress Competition, 15th August 2021
In connection with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, ‘ALANKAAR’ a fancy dress competition themed ‘Female Freedom Fighters of India’, was organized by the Department of Sociology and Centre for Research.
The competition aimed to create awareness about the female Freedom fighters of India who are less discussed even in the present day.
Poster Designing Competition – World Suicide Prevention Day, 10th September 2021
A poster designing competition was organized by the department in connection with World Suicide Prevention Day. The theme of the competition was ‘Creating Hope Through Action.’ The competition was open to all Teresians
Webinar – ‘സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരവും കേരളത്തിലെ സ്ത്രീ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യവും 24th September 2021
The Department of Sociology and Centre for Research organized a webinar on ‘സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരവും കേരളത്തിലെ സ്ത്രീ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യവും’ in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the September 24.
Dr T K Aanandhi was the resource person. Dr T K Aanandhi is well known as an author, and was former General Advisor to the Government of Kerala.
