The Department of Botany and Centre for Research celebrated the Onam celebration, “Poothalam” on 21st of August, 2023 in the Botany UG Laboratory at 2.30 pm. A beautiful ‘Pookalam’ was created with flowers and organic products which greeted everyone to the celebration.  Dr. Alphonsa Vijaya Jospeh, Principal, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam and Dr. Romly Margaret Mendez, Dean of Examinations, St.Teresa’s college were the Chief Guests. Head of Department, Dr. Liza Jacob, Botany Association staff advisor Dr. Aghil Soorya A, teachers of the department, B.Sc. and M.Sc. students and research scholars of the department attended the program. The program was conducted in the hall decorated with hand-made paper crafts hung with threads and stuck using paper adhesive. The program started with a prayer song followed by a welcome speech. Sr. Ancy Varghese of II PG delivered the Onam message. The celebration concluded with the vote of thanks followed by cultural programs and games. On the occasion, prizes were distributed to the winners of the ‘Onapattu’ competition and the ‘Onakkali’ winners. During the function, snacks and Payasam were served in reusable cups brought by the members.
