The green initiative Paper Bag Making Competition was organized by the Department of Commerce (Self-Financing) at St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam on July 11, 2025. The program was part of International Paper Bag Day, the initiative aimed to passionately promote eco-friendly practices among the student community. Students from various departments enthusiastically participated, arriving with their own array of plastic-free materials, demonstrating their commitment to the cause. Each participant poured their creativity and skill into crafting unique and beautiful paper bags during the one-hour competition. The evaluation of the paper bags was rigorously conducted based on criteria set by the Bhoomithra Sena Club (BMC) of the college regarding the use of plastic-free materials and overall craftsmanship, ensuring a fair and comprehensive assessment. The activity was a resounding success, with all 21 participants vibrantly engaging in the competition and crafting their own paper bags by hand. The judging criteria focused on the use of eco-friendly materials, originality of design, neatness, durability, and practical utility. From the array of impressive entries, a perfectly crafted and aesthetically pleasing paper bag created by Aleena Teresa, a 1st-year student from the BMS Department, was selected as the winner.
