The Department of Psychology in association with Sakhi One Stop Center, Ernakulam, and MG Coastline Garages Pvt Ltd organized an awareness drive to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Dowry Prohibition Day on 26th November 2021. The awareness drive titled “ Orange The World: Fund, Respond, Prevent and Collect” showcased two programs
  • A Splash of Orange – A Theme Walk by the UG and PG students of the Department of Psychology to highlight the different kinds of abuse and violence inflicted on women and children.
  • Orange Thunder – Two theme-based Dance dramas performed by the PG and UG students displayed abuse faced by women and the courage to fight back against such social evils and injustices.
The Chief Guest of the program, IG & Commissioner of Police, Shri C H Nagaraju IPS, Police Commiserate, Kochi who inaugurated the program. The program was presided by Dr Lizzy Mathew, Principal, St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam. Dr. Premna Manoj Sankar, District Officer of Women and Child Development Office, Ernakulam delivered the Key Note Address. The Program was felicitated by Ms. Deepa M.S. Women Protection Officer, Women & Child Development Office, Ernakulam, and by Mr. Jimmy Jose, Managing Director, MG – Coastline Garages India Pvt Ltd. The Vote of Thanks was given by Ms. Sandhya, Psycho-Social Counselor, Sakhi One Stop Center, Ernakulam.
The awareness drive program was hosted in three venues -Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam followed by Marine Drive, Ernakulam, and Edapally Metro Station. The program that was aimed to reach out to the general public managed to get a large audience from the members of the public at all venues.
