The Department of French organised a National webinar on « Développer la compétence de communication » (Development of spoken skills in French) on 15^th May 2020 at 5 pm.  The webinar was presented by Dr.Varalakshmi Anandkumar, Associate Professor, Department of French of Queen Mary’s College (Autonomous), Chennai. The webinar centred around offering practical tips on boosting communication skills in French. The speaker provided insight on effective practices like role plays, group activities and peer group interaction. She emphasized the importance of acquiring good grammatical skills to develop good communication skills. To conclude, she motivated the participants to start speaking in the target language. She reminded the participants that, one may make one or two or several hundred faux pas but it is important to ‘speak’ what you know, to develop speaking skills.
