The National Seminar ‘Celluloid Ceiling – Women Directors: their Struggles, Transition and Growth’, organised by the Post Graduate students of the Department of English and Centre for Research, St. Teresa’s College, was inaugurated by Ms Bina Paul at 10.30 a.m. The session witnessed the launching of Media Club in collaboration with Press Academy of Kerala. Dr.G Shankar, the Director of the Academy signed an MoU with St.Teresa’s College regarding the same. Dr.Sajimol Augustine, Principal and Dr.Beena Job, Head of the Department of English addressed the gathering. The paper presentation was followed by the screening of three award winning short films by female directors along with an interactive session with the respective directors. The short films screened were Chembai by Soumya Sadhanadhan, Ladoo by Merlin Babu and Midnight Run by Remya Raj. It was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Priya K Nair(Asst. Professor, Dept. Of English, St. Teresa’s College). The panelists were Sruthi Namboothiri, Bilahari K Raj and Mr. Cheri Jacob. The seminar concluded by 5.00 pm.

The second day saw the screening of 11 short films at Union Christ college, Aluva. The session began at 10.30 a.m and was inaugurated by the Staff co-odinatorsDr.Latha Nair, Associate Professor, St. Teresa’s College and Mr. Cheri Jacob, the Head of the Department of English, Union Christ College, Aluva. The short films were screened in three sessions followed by a discussion at the end of each session.The session concluded by 4.30 p.m.
