The Department of Zoology organized a lecture series on Biodiversity Conservation on 24th January 2020. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. B. Meenakumari, Former chairperson of National Biodiveristy authority and Deputy Director General (Fisheries), Indian council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

The section started with a prayer by Nanda Sathish of 3rd DC followed by the welcome speech by Dr. Meera Jan Abraham, HOD. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. B. Meenakumari by handling over a sapling to Jazima C A, the PG representative. The presentation by Dr. B. Meenakumari entitled “Biological Diversity Act 2002 and Challenges for implementation” dealt with the importance of biodiversity, the global challenges in conserving biodiversity and Biological Diversity Act (2002). The session was informative and created awareness among the audience especially students.
