The Department of Management Studies had a power talk on Innovation by Dr. Jippu Jacob, one of the most esteemed personalities. He has achieved significant awards and appreciation. He graduated as an engineer from Allahabad University India and completed his MTech and Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur India. He has published 17 papers and 3 books. He received ‘Good Service Entry’ from the Kerala agriculture university in 1996 and the Republic day award for the admirable invention of a ‘coconut husking tool’ from the National Research Development Corporation in 1999.

His invention of ‘A coconut husking tool’, has obtained patent rights and was also felicitated by ACMA (Agricultural Implements and Cutleries Manufacturing Association). ‘An attachment for making basins around trees’ and ‘bicycle type milking machine for dairy cows’ were other patents he achieved.

He won the ‘Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, as one of the best innovations for the ‘Pot-tilting Mechanism‘ developed by himself and 2 of his colleagues. His achievements not only benefited the entire humankind but also will promulgate the upcoming generations to strive for a better future.

He quoted Sir Thomas Alva Edison, “There is a way to do it better- find it”, the session helped students understand how each idea is born within every individual. Thus students learned that one has to always come up with innovative ideas to help improve the current status and upgrade to a better version in order to grow. Innovation alone requires courage & comes with its own complexities.
