Joyeux 14 juillet à toutes et à tous !

Le Département de Français hold high the colors of France on the occasion of the French National Day !

On the 14th of July 1789, the French people took the Bastille prison, symbol of an unfair king in an unfair world, and asked for equality. Two centuries and few decades ago, on the 14.07.25, we are here, in the Department of French at St. Teresa’s College, remembering an event that shaken the foundation of many a country.

Vaishnavi and Elizabeth Rose, BA 2 students, presented the event to our students. It was then followed by the results of the National Reading Competition : 1st prize went to Vaishnavi (UG 2) and 2nd prize to Sreya (UG 3). Congratulations to them !

Our foreign faculty organized a “Frog Race” to celebrate the National Day of her country. Students were asked to prepare origami frogs at home and to bring them to compete. In some parts of France, people eat frog legs, it is considered a delicacy. But it led also the British people to give the nickname of “Froggies” to the French people. Far from being upset by it, the French people make games out of it. And since the 14th of July is a day of fun and celebration, frogs were also invited.

See you next year !
