Kerala has gone through the most difficult periods of the state in the mid of August of this year(2018). All 14 districts of the state were deeply flooded and almost 12 lakhs of people were shifted to the rehabilitation camps. All 14 districts were under red alert. Almost 400 people lost their lives and thousands of people become homeless. In this struggling period, but the whole world stood together with Kerala. All the young citizen of our country, especially the Kerala youth joined their hands together to overcome this pathetic situation.
The students of Department of Mathematics and Statistics, St. Teresa’s college also gave their humble effort in Kerala SOS programme. Other than their active participation in the Relief Camp set up in the college, they also were active in collection of required material, packing of materials etc. Under the guidance of Department of Mathematics and Statistics, the students gave their valuable time and energy for the following two activities.
- PHENOYL PREPERATION
the students of the department prepared the phenoyl inorder to donate it to various flood affected regions. As a part of this programme, Department collected almost 250 bottles from all the students of the Department on 6th September. The students successfully prepared 225 bottles of Phenoyl.
- PACKING OF MATERIALS
A group of 10 members headed by Nemi Poulin of Department of Mathematics visited the Mathrubhumi Office at Kaloor on 7th September, 2018 for the packing of materials for the flood affected areas. They made almost 100 packets comprising of all required food materials like Bread,Rice, Bottled Water,essential grains,etc .They also made packets comprising sanitary napkins, soap ,bedsheets, clothes, etc.
